The Void
An endlessly white expanse with no apparent end. Though there are no clear sources of light, it always appears to be brightly lit. There is a "ground", and there is a "sky", but it is difficult to distinguish between the two at a glance. If you squint into the distance for long enough, you may notice a faint, almost invisible line that marks the horizon. There is no apparent ceiling or upper limit.
The ground feels firm, with a slight amount of give to it. It cannot be scratched or broken through in any significant way. The texture feels vaguely of paper or canvas. It has no noticeable temperature, scent, or taste.
The void stretches outwards in all perceivable directions, filling in the gaps between established zones within the world. The concept of physical distance becomes more vague the further out one travels. Distances between zones may not be consistent, or they may seem to move around from time to time.
Along the edges of the void near the defined areas of the world, a number of different musical scores can be found scribbled on the ground in black marker. The size and length of each piece varies, and some of them feature titles such as "An Ode for a Gentle World", "I Haven't Slept In Who Knows How Long And Now Our Benevolent Kidnapping God Made Me Hungry, Ugh!" and "Hey, Let's Talk Or Sing Or Whatever You Like!".
If one stands near a score for long enough, they'll eventually hear a light, pretty voice humming the tune from further out into the void. The voice will never get closer, but it'll fade away once they enter a different area.
The Sky
The sky above the known world is pitch black, contrasting starkly with the endless white of the void surrounding it. Distant specs of light and vibrantly colorful auroras illuminate the sky, leaving the world below in a perpetual twilight. Instead of clouds, random shapes and objects float in the air high above the land, appearing, changing, adjusting and disappearing in random patterns, not unlike some great celestial lava lamp. These floating objects are solid (most of the time), can be climbed upon by those able to reach them, and may emit a soft glow of their own to help brighten the skies.
Currently, the only part of the land close enough to touch these sky objects is the very peak of Mount Silver. If one climbs high enough above the sky-shapes they'll eventually reach the stars and auroras above - the stars vary in size, but are no bigger than a volleyball and hot to the touch, while the auroras are insubstantial but may ripple and move if a solid object passes through. Attempting to rise any higher than the layer of stars will eventually transition back into the whiteness of the void.
From the outside, if one travels far enough into the void they'll see that the sky forms a black dome around the known world.

Arctic night sky: Indigo (Starbound)
Mount Silver
Marking the center of the known world is a large mountain with a high snowy peak, standing as a division between two other zones. One side of the mountain leads into a forested area, while the other side leads directly to a beach and oceanfront. To travel between these zones, one must use one of two routes through the mountains.
The long route is a two-lane paved road that appears to be well maintained, circling all the way around the mountain. This path takes significantly longer to travel, but follows easy terrain with only a few gentle slopes, eventually splitting off into dirt roads that lead to the other areas of the world. Metal signs have been placed along the road seemingly at random, giving travelers useful information such as the names of the different areas of the world, as well as far less useful information like nonsensical traffic arrows and speed limits.
The faster route is a system of caves that go straight through the base of the mountain - though the original terrain was exceedingly difficult and wrought with annoying climbing and swimming sections, these areas have since been built over with concrete and steel walkways that lead to all the notable locations within the mountain. Lights have been placed along the ground next to these walkways, and ramps are used for the more elevated parts of the tunnels. The deepest and highest sections only have room to fit narrow staircases, however. An abundance of small colorful fish can be found in the mountain's rivers, though they seem strangely absent from all other bodies of water within the world. At the center of the mountain at about ground-level is a wider cave area containing MARKETzone.
Through the deepest and highest tunnels are paths that lead up to the outside, weaving in and out of the mountain as one approaches the snowy summit. The walkways here are steep and sometimes go straight up and over waterfalls, so caution is advised. The temperature abruptly drops the moment one steps into the snow-covered areas of the summit - snowflakes fall steadily from above at all times, though it's uncertain where they’re coming from.
Stairs have been carved into the stone near the top, eventually leading to a single long staircase. At the end of the stairs is a small, flat area paved with concrete slabs, bordered by a tall wire fence. The area has ample seating and a few tables for anyone who wishes to rest after their long climb, though it is suggested to first clear the layer of snow from them before taking a seat. Several empty planter boxes are littered on the tables, devoid of any fledgling flora thanks to the frozen-solid soil. Several large rotary fan units also line the area, but are not functional.
Zone Features
Ley Lines: on the ground at the mountain summit; on a cave wall in MARKETzone, partially hidden by a poster; at the back of a bookshelf in Takka's Library; within the payphone located in the Hammerlocke Citadel lobby
Train Stations: None
Mount Silver: Red (Pokémon)
Shujin Academy rooftop: Haru Okumura (Persona 5 Royal)
MARKETzone
Located in a large cave near the center of Mount Silver's tunnel system is the MARKETzone, easily identified by a large neon sign stating as such at the entrance to the cave. The rivers in this area of the caves have been diverted into evenly spaced canals that run along the edges of the chamber, with stone benches and plain concrete walkways connecting into multiple exits.
The market features a wide variety of storefronts, buildings and tents in various states of dinginess and disrepair. Large neon signs and strings of colored lights decorate the upper areas of the cave, along with brightly colored posters and advertisements for various stores and games. Korean BBQ and sushi can be found at some of the food stands, as well as a variety of bottled drinks and alcohol. Most of the stores and buildings have been filled wall to wall with modern arcade machines, though many of them appear to be too damaged or broken to be played. The ones that do work feature strange, genre-defying games that all seem to feature the same playable character: a cat-potato hybrid creature wearing a jet pack. Currently, the arcade machines will only function while there is a thunderstorm active in the Mount Silver area.
BATHzone is a clean, Japanese-style bathhouse with a connected laundromat. Much like the rest of MARKETzone, it is dimly lit on the inside with a large number of neon lights throughout the building. A neon-lit sign is displayed in the entry area explaining the rules for the bathhouse.
- Take off your shoes.
- No clothing in the bathing area.
- Shower before entering the bath.
- No running.
- No towels in the bath water.
- No fish in the bath water.
If anyone breaks one of the listed rules, a loud voice will announce “GAME OVER” and they will suddenly find themselves standing in a different building within MARKETzone, wearing a deactivated VR headset. If anyone else is in the bathhouse with them when this occurs, they will see a 2D pixelated explosion when the rule breaker disappears.
BATHzone has a changing room with lockers, a shower room, and a room containing a large bath with various buckets and stools for guests to use. There are divided areas for male and female guests, including separate baths. Instead of a handle to control water flow and temperature, all of the showers feature a rhythm game arcade cabinet built into the wall just below the shower head. To use the showers the player must maintain their combo in the game, with higher scores leading to a more comfortable experience.
The bathing area does not feature any games in place of water control, though there is a large digital sign on one wall that displays everyone’s shower scores.

Hammerhead Book Stop & Garage
Along the paved road around Mt. Silver is a large sign featuring a logo of a shark and the name "Hammerhead". The surrounding area has been completely paved flat, and a large building with a distinctly shaped metal roof pokes out of the mountainside between two other structures. All three buildings have been partially built into the mountain.
The main Hammerhead building features a set of gas pumps and a mini-mart. The gas pumps outside the main building are functional, but strangely, instead of gasoline they only pump out water. The water comes from somewhere inside the mountain, made evident from the occasional mountain fish that slips through the pumps. The mini-mart is laid out like a typical convenience store, but instead of the common items you'd expect to find in a mini-mart all the shelves are stocked with books, though their covers are styled to look like the branded packages and cans they've replaced. There is a counter and register at one end, and a display of brochures and magazines that currently contain only gibberish and blank pages.
Takka's Library is located in a circular building on the left side of the mini-mart. Inside is a circular room with blue bookshelves covering the walls from floor to ceiling, stocked with a wide assortment of books. A glowing blue sphere is embedded in the center of the ceiling, connected to the shelves with a series of tubes. A counter and chairs styled like a retro diner have been built into the far end of the room, and several smaller tables and booths are squeezed between the bookshelves along the walls. There is a large section of the library dedicated to cook books, including several books by a person named Takka containing recipes for "Chili con Carne", "Leiden Jambalaya", "Hammerhead Hot Sandwich" and "Sizzling Humongo-Steak".
To the right of the mini-mart is a second inset building with a large sliding door and the words "Hammerhead Garage" painted above. The inside is mostly barren with broken car parts and random mechanical tools scattered around the floor, as well as piles upon piles of unsorted books.

Hammerlocke Citadel Ruins
Along the beach-facing side of Mount Silver is a winding, neglected path that leads to a longer stretch of snowy cliffs. Much like at the summit, the temperature drops abruptly as soon as one steps onto the snow-covered terrain, and snowflakes constantly fall from above. This path only goes halfway up the mountain before it becomes too dangerous to climb, leading to a small area of old brick and stone ruins scattered among the cliffs. Many of the buildings are too damaged to identify, though a few look like they may have been English-style houses or shops at one point. Empty, broken barrels and unlit lanterns are a common sight, as well as tattered old banners and iron lampposts. A faded sign near the entrance to the ruins reads “Hammerlocke.”
At the highest point of the ruins is a structure that appears to be a hybrid of an old stone castle and a modern skyscraper on an isolated cliff, partially collapsed and in great disrepair. A domed base built of reinforced dark stone branches out from the bottom, thinning out into two exceedingly tall towers made of lighter stone and steel reinforcements. Between these two towers is a crown-like spire, reaching high up as the building’s peak. This, like the rest of the castle and surrounding town, appears to be partially destroyed.
A distinctive pair of wing-shaped pillars spread out from the two towers, though one of them seems to have fallen off and landed down the side of the mountain a long time ago. The mechanism for the medieval-style drawbridge at the castle’s entrance is broken, but it has been left down to allow access to the castle entrance across the treacherous cliffs below.
The castle’s lobby is large and extravagant, though cold and devoid of life; the room is filled with snowdrifts blown in from the surrounding area that have settled into corners and against the high pillars lining the walkway. Broken statues on top of the pillars line the main walkway cutting through the middle of the room, which is adorned by a long, jagged red and blue- patterned carpet that has deep tears and frays at its edges. The walls and floors are made of a mix of cobblestone and tiled marble with gold trimming, starkly contrasting one another.
Further into the lobby, next to the archway that leads further into the castle is an information booth with a large blue "i" above it, stocked with completely blank white pamphlets and nothing else. At the opposite side of the room is a wooden telephone pole with a street lamp and an old payphone on it - there's a wire connected at the top, but it seems to just go straight into the stone wall with nothing on the other side.
Past the main lobby is an entrance to a sports dome, the main area of the castle. The arena contains a large amount of spectator seating, two jumbo TV screens, and more tattered banners. The roof of the dome has partially collapsed, leaving a pile of rubble in the middle of the arena and allowing snow to pile up in the stands.
A pair of twin stairwells cut through opposite sides of the dome through the spectator seating to lead to a higher tier above one of the jumbo TV screens. Strangely, the flooring of this tier has been covered with asphalt, and at its center sits a large, opulent throne, decorated with fanned out branches of gold that have long since tarnished. Carved into the back of the throne is a list of names matching those of the people who have been brought to this world - the ones who are no longer present have been crossed out with a single carved line.
The higher towers of the castle are difficult to access, but currently contain nothing of note besides empty hallways. They’re more like structures built to look like towers rather than actual floors in a building. The top of the broken crown spire can be reached by flight, but it’s just an empty, open space with nothing to note.

Mortis Lake
On one side of Mount Silver is what appears to be a large, lush forest characterized by bright purple trees and plants. The areas closest to the mountain are composed of gray stone cliffs that gradually level out as one travels into the main forest area. The ruins of old stone buildings can be found scattered around clearings between the trees, though they lack any identifying features. At the center of the woods is a scenic freshwater lake with sandy shorelines that's visible from the higher cliffs.
However, at times the entire forest will suddenly wither all at once, turning into a completely dry and desolate wasteland of pale, naked trees and black earth. Just as quickly as the environment withers, it may also suddenly spring back to life as if resurrected from death. These cycles occur in equal, punctual phases of exactly one hour each. Only plants within the forest seem to be affected, though creatures that roam the forest are much more easily found without leafy branches and bushes to hide away in.
Zone Features
Ley Lines: underwater, at the center of the lake; next to each of the altars of the twin shrines at Shrine Bridge; in the garden at the center of the Lemon Cello Church; on the ground underneath the Chicago L Station platform
Train Stations: Chicago L Station
Lakeland: Crystal Exarch (Final Fantasy XIV)

Merlaut Apartments
Sitting atop one of the higher cliffs near Mortis Lake is a large steel building covered in gleaming windows. Paved pathways weave around the trees and towards the entrance of the building, which is marked with a large sign reading "Merlaut Apartments" in two completely different fonts. The inner lobby is exactly what you'd expect from a luxury hotel. The receptionist counter is equipped with comfortable chairs and modern computers. Modern art pieces can be found decorating the walls.
Despite appearing to have a large number of floors from the outside, only the first three floors of the building seem to exist at this time. The elevator only has buttons for the first three floors and the roof. The stairs going up to the fourth floor end at a blank wall.
The first three floors of the building have 10 one-room apartments each, numbered 101-110, 201-210, and 301-310. All of the apartments are spotlessly clean and have identical layouts. They all come with a desk, a cheap laptop computer (loaded with a simple paint program, word processor, solitaire and minesweeper), a single bed, a small kitchen area, a fridge stocked with various food and drink items, a small bookshelf, and a window that's been held open with a blank book. Each room also comes with a healthy succulent plant on the windowsill and a couple small vases of Mortis Lake flora.
Unoccupied rooms will be marked with a plain card placed on the bed that reads "Approved by housekeeping."
For a list of all currently occupied apartments or to claim an apartment for your character, please see the player-run room assignments spreadsheet.
On the roof of the Merlaut is a large lightning rod connected to the building's power. Whenever a storm passes over Mortis Lake, lightning strikes will be drawn to the Merlaut and provide additional power - all electronics in the Merlaut will function for an extra hour after a storm has subsided.

The Chicago L Station
Only a brisk walk away from the Merlaut Apartments, the Chicago L Station is situated on an elevated platform above tree level near the edge of Mortis Forest. A plain staircase leads up to the platform, which features metal benches, trash cans, hanging lamps, and a few pay phones. Posters along the back of the station show off various colorful advertisements for other establishments within the world, though all the text besides the names of places are largely nonsensical.
A short passenger train can sometimes be found at the station, though it's possible to walk along the elevated tracks by foot if it's currently inactive or elsewhere. The inside of the train cars are plain with basic seating and rails to hold on to. There is no space for a conductor since the train is meant to be controlled automatically.
A poster near the staircase shows a map of the area outlining the trains routes. Currently, there is only one line and four stops: the Chicago L Station, Messiah Station, Wyndon Station and Aoba Shibumenosaki Underground Academy. The train will run in a loop to each of these stations while active, though currently it may only run while a thunderstorm is active somewhere in the world. Due to this, the train can be somewhat unreliable.
The "Blue Line" runs along the edge of the forest for a while before taking a sharp turn straight down into the ground, where it appears that a large tunnel has been dug into the forest floor. The tracks level out and continue underground for a long distance before the dirt transitions into the tunnels of Mementos. The other end of the above ground tracks follow a similar route, heading towards Mount Silver for awhile before going straight down into the underground tunnels.

Kichijoji Aerial District
Positioned right next to the Chicago L Station is a cluster of four tall buildings that make up the entire Kichijoji shopping district. Despite their size, they've been built with sturdy materials and are highly resistant to both high winds and extreme weather. The ground floor of each building resembles an apartment building entrance. However, instead of apartments each floor is filled with various shops and food stands. An elevator is located at the center of each building to allow flightless access to the higher floors.
Strangely, the shop fronts are not located on the inside of the building as one might expect - the entrances on the inside are plain and consist of little more than a door label and some scattered advertisement posters in the hallways. Instead, each shop is set up facing the outside of the building. Shops on the second floor and above each have a small open platform for guests to stand on, as well as enclosed balconies with seating for food stands and restaurants. The buildings are placed close enough together for one to comfortably glide between the various floors.
Currently, most of the shops are empty with closed signs on the doors. Some of them have been claimed by the local winged wildlife and filled with messy, large nests made of leaves and sticks. If cleaned out, they may be used as large studio loft apartments.
The Wish Shop takes up the ground floor of one of the district's buildings. The exterior is built entirely out of wood, seemingly unhindered by the heavier materials that make up the rest of the tall building, and features traditional Japanese sliding screen doors along all of its walls. A short entryway with wooden double doors sticks out of the front of the building as its main entrance. The interior matches the same aesthetic and has various extra rooms that can be accessed through more screen doors. At the back of the main room is a large ornate couch in front of a bright red curtain, though there is also a stairwell entrance and elevator next to it that matches the more urban look of the rest of Kichijoji.
The other rooms on the Wish Shop floor carry on the same Japanese aesthetic, though they are currently completely empty aside from dust. The sliding doors on the walls may be opened to access the outside directly.
Penguin Sniper is a darts and billiards bar on the district's second story. Electronic dart boards are located to the right of the bar area, and two billiards tables take up most of the middle of the room. The outside entrance is fully open, making it a bit precarious to play during poor weather.

The Heavenly Blanc Bar & Café
Along the road near the base of Mount Silver is a slightly run-down building that's easily recognizable as a bar or restaurant. The large wooden sign over the entrance reads "The Heavenly Blanc Bar & Café" in mismatched letters, as if half the words were copied from a completely different source. There are some wooden tables and seating on the outside, as well as several thick pipes jutting in and out of the side of the building.
The inside is clean and cozy, with several conflicting menus on the wall above the counter. None of the lights work, but there's an odd mix of neon signs, classy lamps and plain hanging bulbs. Unlabelled bottles of what one can only assume is alcohol cover the shelves behind the counter, alongside jars of coffee beans and tea leaves. The fridge and cupboards have been fully stocked to make every item on the menu, though the large variety of options mean that everything is tightly packed together and in low supplies. A jukebox, pinball machine and dartboard can also be found in the corner next to the bar.
At the back of the building is a unisex washroom, as well as the stairs to the second floor attic. Oddly enough, the attic is decorated with thick metal pipes running out from the walls and a large section of metal grating on the floor. The room is stacked haphazardly with boxes and crates, a large TV in one corner, a punching bag, a single-sized bed, and a bench with a computer on it. A large whiteboard takes up one of the walls, and a square table with wooden chairs rests on the grating at the center of the room.

Shrine Bridge
Behind the Heavenly Blanc is a beaten dirt path that goes along the edge of the forest, ending at a river. The other side of the riverbank transitions straight into the void, and the river acts as a division between it and the forest. One end of the river flows out from within the caverns of Mount Silver, and the other end continues for the full length of the forest before transitioning seamlessly into the blank terrain of the void. On the Mount Silver side, a small patch of earth has been cleared for flowers that have been transplanted from the USJ's gardens.
There is an old bridge along the riverbank path, marked by a large Japanese-style shrine gate at the entrance. The bridge appears old, but has been very well maintained and kept clean. It is also much longer than the river is wide, crossing deep into the empty void before ending at another shrine gate. The parts of the bridge in the void are fused to the ground by unknown means, though it is otherwise identical to the forest side. The length of the bridge tends to feel longer when crossing over it.
An unnamed shrine is hidden in the forest near the bridge, though not as small as it once was. On approach, the view is initially blocked by trees, but exploring further will reveal a circle of seven tall statues of worn grey stone, each stood in the center of a small carved circular pool. These statues are arranged around a central dais so that each statue has their back to it, and the small pools each have a straight and narrow channel connecting it to a larger one that surrounds the dais.
Each statue is of an elegant maiden dressed in flowing draped cloth that some might identify as Ancient Greek attire, standing tall and straight as if to support something atop their heads. Though the statues are worn, they each bear a passing resemblance to various women present within the world, though combined in such a way that none can be said to look like any specific person. Curiously, some less human traits can be identified in some of the statues, for two have tails, one has insect-like horns and unusually large eyes, and one’s ‘hair’ is shaped more like large tentacles and a horny protrusion atop the head.
Within the circle of statues is a large stone circle, and in the very center are some steps leading up to the dais. Here, there is an altar, again made of worn grey stone and carved to resemble a creature’s wide open mouth, and inside there are some small indentations that are perhaps meant for treasures of some kind. At present, there are no particular treasures, and the only things present inside the altar’s mouth are offerings of incense and scissors, tossed inside haphazardly.
Mounted atop the stone altar is an additional small, wooden shrine, no different to the one that was here previously. In spite of the disruption to its surroundings, its appearance has not changed.
Curiously, this shrine does not only exist here. Should one cross the bridge and walk a short distance into the void, they will soon happen upon a copy of it, the papery white of it camouflaging it against the white of the void. Every detail of the shrine has been copied in detail, but instead of being made of stone and wood, this second shrine is made of the same pure white and papery material as the rest of the void.
Parsee’s bridge: Parsee Mizuhashi (Touhou Project)
The Erechtheion Temple: Melinoë (Original Character)
Shamouti Shrine: Samuel Oak (Pokémon)
The Lemon Cello Church
A tall stone building stands in the middle of the forest surrounding Mortis Lake. From the outside, the building is clearly recognizable as a Gothic-style church with tall stained glass windows. Hanging above the double doors is a hand-painted sign with an image of a lemon and a cello. The same image can be found on red banners that hang on the inside of the building. The main doors open to lines of even spaced pews mixed randomly with café-style wooden seating. The floorboards seem to be made of a couple different types of wood, and some of the stone pillars along the sides of the room appear to have somehow been broken and partially repaired with different materials. Looking up reveals that there was once a large uneven hole in the ceiling as well, though it has been patched up in a similarly mysterious manner.
Instead of an altar, a glass display case filled with sweets and baked goods is located at the back of the church. Lemon-flavored cakes are most prominently featured, though there are other common flavors as well. White and yellow lilies decorate the inside of the display, mixing pleasantly with the strong lemon scent. More lilies can also be found in the garden that's growing in the center of the church - literally, as the large hole in the floor is the only area of the church that's been left unpatched.
The Lemon Cello: Eleytheria (Original Character)
Aerith's church: Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy VII: Remake)
Takoba Beach
On the other side of Mount Silver is a large stretch of sandy beaches lined with palm trees. A wide blue ocean stretches out into the distance - it’s not infinite, however, and if one travels far enough they can reach a point where the water and sand simply transition back into the void.
The entire beach and ocean floor has been littered with huge piles of trash, ranging from food wastes and empty containers to waterlogged electronics, furniture, and broken pieces of high-tech weaponry. The massive arm of a space mech can be found reaching out from the sea near the entrance to Mount Silver, rusted and broken beyond repair. On one of the highest piles of trash sits a detailed statue of a masked, cloaked figure surrounded by three smaller masked figures; a dented plaque has been attached to the statue’s base that reads "Memorial to the Hollow Knight."
Objects of various sizes wash up on the beach frequently, though it’s unclear where it all comes from. Unlike the trash that still covers most of the beach, however, anything new that washes up will be new, fully intact and completely functional, even if the water should have been enough to damage it. Sometimes items will still be in their original packaging or require assembly. It's random what objects wash up and when, but furniture, decorations and household electronics are the most common.
Zone Features
Ley Lines: next to the trash heap holding up the masked statue on Takoba Beach; several scattered throughout the WSJ's conflagration zone; in one of the flooded greenery areas in Messiah Station Square
Train Stations: Wyndon Station, Messiah Station
Takoba Municipal Beach Park: Izuku Midoriya (My Hero Academia)
The Wyndon Simulation Joint
Just visible from the shore of Takoba Beach is the top of a domed structure, barely peeking out from the ocean's surface. An opulent brick wall surrounds the dome, seemingly preventing water from leaking in - the dome’s glass can hardly be seen over the wall’s high pillars, but light consistently comes through the top of the dome to illuminate the area. Past the entrance is an interlocking brick walkway that leads to the central plaza, with a large fountain as its centerpiece. Flanking the fountain on its four cardinal points are stone statues of winged, beaked creatures of various sizes, with the largest standing in the middle with its wings spread. Molten lava runs through the fountain’s reservoirs, and empties out through narrow, stream-like indents paved into the plaza’s pathways. Street lamps and several red phone booths scatter the area, though the pay phones inside of them do not function.
There are several paths leading away from the plaza that lead to six distinct zones, though currently all but two of them are filled with nothing but massive trash heaps.
The first zone is the conflagration zone, contained within a smaller red dome at the back of the WSJ. Inside is a wide grassy plain filled with beautiful, colorful flowers that are engulfed in an inextinguishable sea of flames. The flowers planted here seem to be fully immune to any damage from heat or fire, though, and the smoke that fills the dome smells pleasantly floral.
The source of the lava that is flowing harmlessly through the plaza’s walkways can be found towards the back of the dome in the second zone, where a large, active volcano looms. The small indents flowing through the plaza congregate outside of it into a larger lava river, which branches into tributaries that wind throughout the area. The lava is warm, but does not burn to the touch; it has the consistency of thickened water, and when consumed has a slightly spicy taste. The lava river flows continuously through the area and will never harden into solid rock.
Wyndon Station is a modern two-floor train station directly north of the central plaza. The first floor contains an empty information booth, a bank of ticket machines, and screens that show when the next train is scheduled to arrive - when trains are not running, the times simply read “???”. The ticket machines, when they decide to function, dispense paper tickets with the name of one of the world’s train stations written in large letters in exchange for anything that will fit inside of the small, round-shaped currency slot. The second floor houses an elevator that descends to the train platform, soft drink vending machines, and a small cafe with patron seating. Both floors of the station have racks for literature that contain printed maps of the world so far, along stacks of printed scripts for a coming-of-age stage play about the trials and tribulations of life as a train.
A poster near the ticket machines shows a map of the area outlining the trains routes.

Messiah, the City of Tears
Visible from the beach is a massive fortress of gleaming metal and gray stone, partially submerged in the water and buried even deeper into the ocean floor. The metal components are clearly artificial, though most of the external structure appears to be a natural meteorite that's been hollowed out and built into with advanced technology. There are two large rings around the structure, the larger one partly submerged in water, though the inside areas of the rings are currently inaccessible. There are no bridges to reach the fortress, but there’s enough buoyant trash on the beach to create a makeshift raft if needed.
One side of the structure has been left wide open just above the water level, revealing part of a large city that continues deep into the bottom of the fortress. Tall towers connected by enclosed walkways and bridges make up most of the city, with lifts located in the larger towers to travel between the different levels. The lifts are highly advanced, almost looking like something you'd expect to see in a space station. Unfortunately, they are also non-operational.
The city's architecture is distinctly gothic, featuring a lot of intricate wrought-iron fences, benches and lampposts, as well as tall glass windows covering many of the buildings. While not completely empty, most of the buildings are quite featureless on the inside.
The walls of the fortress are filled with leaks, leaving the city in a state of constant, salty rainfall. To prevent flooding, canals have been built into the lower streets to guide the water further down into the fortress and away from residential areas. It’s unclear where the water goes from there, but since the water has yet to overflow it can be assumed that it drains into somewhere or is pumped back out into the ocean.

Galleria del Funghi
On one of the higher floors of Messiah is a large building with a tall domed roof shaped like a mushroom cap. The outside walls and entrance of the building are covered with extremely complex, ornate carvings of mushrooms, winged mushrooms, and humanoid figures holding mushrooms in a wide variety of poses and circumstances. A sign near the area indicates the building's name as "Galleria del Funghi".
The inside of the Galleria contains many long hallways and rooms decorated with expensive-looking artwork and marble statues painted with bright, garish colors. Vases and bouquets of roses have been placed all around the building, filling in the spaces between artworks. All of the statues are of giant mushrooms, clusters of mushrooms, or humanoid figures with mushrooms growing from their bodies. Upon closer inspection, some of these statues really are made of actual mushrooms that can be safely harvested and eaten, though there are signs in place around the museum advising guests not to do so. The paintings have a little more variety, though there are often mushrooms featured in the image somewhere, and resemble famous artworks that some may recognize as Italian.
One of the larger and more prominently displayed statues is at the center of a room near the front of the museum, named Michelangelo's David by the plaque below it. The statue is completely normal aside from three medium-sized mushrooms with bulbous, pink caps growing up from between the figure's legs. The mushroom stalks are quite thick and difficult to break off without putting in some effort, as if standing firm in the face of adversity.
At the back of the museum is a large garden area filled with rose bushes and beautifully trimmed hedges, separated from the rest of the building with a natural-looking river and a small bridge. A pair of iron wrought grates on each side of the hallway allow the water to pass through from outside the building and back into the city's canals. The bridge is just large enough for one person to pass over it, though it is surprisingly sturdy for its size. Smaller mushrooms can also be found growing all around the garden in various places.

Messiah Station Square
Located on the lowest floor of Messiah is a large plaza, easily distinguished from the rest of the city by its contrasting white and gray brick walkways. The square has been decorated with small circular areas of greenery sectioned off by wooden planks, though the ground is so flooded with water that it's basically just mud. Instead of trees or flowers, large lamp posts with arms that have been shaped like tree branches have been planted in the center of each green space. The ornate iron wrought benches typical of the area can be found next to each of these spaces, slightly curved to fit. A variety of vending machines, electronic screens and nonsensical advertisements for other establishments and places within the world can also be found all over the square and its surrounding buildings. About an inch of water is gathered on the ground here at all times.
There are two large cobblestone staircases tucked towards the inner part of the space, noticeable thanks to the large, green, wheel-less bus parked next to it. The staircases go in different directions; the one going up leads to a higher floor of the city, seemingly cut off from the rest of it. The walkway that the staircase empties out into has an abandoned feel to it, with the shops that look like they should be lining the area completely shuttered. Further down the path is a long access way, framed by a series of large, ornate windows that give a panning view of the square below. Walking further down the access way simply leads to a dead end.
The other staircase leads down into the underground portion of the square, as well as a subway station. Because of the constant rainfall and flooding, the stairs are more like a series of miniature waterfalls - the current isn't strong enough to knock anyone over, but it's extremely slippery. The flooding here is roughly knee-height and fills the entire floor of the underground square, including the subway platform and some of the tunnels closest to it. Much like the upper half of the square, it has a modern city design with a Gothic twist - the pillars securing the structural integrity of the area are made of solid iron, curling into intricate patterns as they branch into the floor and ceiling. Large stickers with arrows have been stuck all over the floor as a guide, though they're completely useless since they seem to follow a path that loops around the entire station several times before ending at the subway platform.
Most of the shops in the underground square are empty, but there is a small collection of refreshment stands at one end that sells prepackaged snacks and bottled juices of unknown origin. There is also a small collection of stands filled with flyers advertising job opportunities. The jobs are extremely varied and often nonsensical, listing various establishments and buildings within the world that, apparently, need to have someone working there after all. Payment is usually left blank or filled with garbled nonsense, but sometimes lists things such as food items, small trinkets or flowers. If the job is completed, the promised reward will appear suddenly and mysteriously the next time the employee turns around.
A line of mechanical gates lead to the platform if you choose to trust the arrows to lead you there. A poster near the gates shows a map of the area outlining the trains routes.
The tunnels closest to Messiah Station have all been flooded, but it doesn't seem to affect the trains aside from making everyone inside of them wet.

Mementos, the Heart of the World
Deep below the world's surface lies a maze of dark tunnels, connecting each of the train stations that exist in the above-ground. The tunnels are much larger than those found in an average train system, illuminated by a dim reddish-purple haze of light that permeates the area. Parts of the walls are made of thick muscle, curved and slick with an unknown organic fluid, and the connections between the walls and their respective ground and ceilings are sealed with networks of spidering veins. The upper parts of the walls are covered in a more translucent flesh, allowing one to peer into nearby tunnels and the areas in between. Everything pulses and throbs as if alive, and the thundering beat of a distant heart can be heard from deeper underground. The flesh in the walls and ceiling are more durable than they appear to be, but will bleed and convulse violently if damaged.
The ground is lined with modern-looking subway tracks, though only some of them appear to get any use. There are many more tunnels than the current routes require, and it's very easy to get lost if one attempts to traverse the tunnels by foot. Several areas of the tunnels have been messily cut and hacked apart, as if by a serrated blade, creating shortcuts between adjacent areas that have become overrun with thick, tangling vines covered in alyssum. The vines can be cut to create an opening large enough for a person to pass through, but doing so takes significant effort. The walls will convulse and ooze blood and the vines may lash out violently if they are disturbed. Continuing to agitate the tunnels in this way will cause them to try to “squeeze out” the offending object and trigger an above-ground earthquake, halting all train activity until the tunnels can relax again.
Somewhere near the center of the maze, accessible only by one of these footpaths, is a wide room with escalators that looks almost like the entrance to a lower floor... but it ends abruptly at a solid white wall halfway down, consisting of the same impenetrable material as the ground in the outer regions of the void.

Aoba Shibumenosaki Underground Academy
In the maze of underground tunnels beneath one of the unused regions of the void is an extra stop, leading to the front entrance of a prestigious academic campus. The plaque on the front of the outer walls lining the property reads “Aoba Shibumenosaki Underground Academy”, and opens into a courtyard with an eye-catching fountain at its center. Surrounding the courtyard are various faculty buildings, ripe for exploring.
The interior of the buildings looks like a well-kept Japanese high school, though it does feel a bit spacious. The hallways are decorated with banners and flyers that advertise sales with nonsensical, random slogans - “7.233% OFF!”, “BUY 9 GET 27 FREE!”, “NOTHING MUST GO!”, and the like. Staircases are styled like escalators, though they remain motionless and must be climbed as normal. Each standard classroom is stocked like a shop, with desks stacked up like shelves to display wares. Said wares, however, aren’t very diverse - clothing shops are abundant, but they sell nothing but the same school uniforms (albeit in different colors and sizes, for the fashionably conscious); similarly, shoe stores contain only the same style of school-sanctioned loafers. Some rooms have nothing in them at all aside from stacks of empty desks and chairs, with signs in front of them that are labeled in complete gibberish.
There are some rooms, however, that stand out among the generic shops. What is labeled as the music room appears to be a combination instrument and record store, though the CDs and vinyls in stock only contain the same few songs the world understands as “music”. A grand piano at the front of the room is being used to store extra stock, though it otherwise functions as normal.
The jewellery store only has individual diamonds and red, blue or yellow gemstones of various shapes and sizes in its displays. The shop also contains a wall of gatchapon machines that have slots that fit the gems being sold in the shop. Inserting the gems and turning the crank will dispense a capsule, containing one random Poké Ball. Despite how fancy some of them may look, they all have the same probability of catching a target.
The nurse’s office contains various cosmetic products, but also has displays for anatomically-correct models of skeletal, muscular, and organic systems. The model labelled “person” is the upper half of a human, but the spaces for models labeled “dragon” and “machine” remain vacant.
The cafeteria is structured as a sort of self-serve grocery store, containing prepackaged meals, bottled drinks (all labeled generically as Sports Drink), candy, and baked goods you’d expect at a school cafeteria that rotate on a seemingly random basis. The only item that seems to stay consistent are small jars labeled “Honey Pickled Lemons”.
Across from the main classroom building is the Auditorium Hall, which contains a giant room filled with rows upon rows of seating. At the very front of the room is a large stage with several round targets set up for archery practice. Bows, arrows, violins, and various other stringed instruments can be found in abundance backstage.
A set of double doors at the far end of the larger faculty building leads to the gymnasium. The gym is equipped with multiple basketball nets, two volleyball nets, a second floor walkway that runs along all four walls, a storage area for sports equipment, and separate locker rooms for men and women. The storage area, similar to the classrooms, is arranged like a store and can be accessed through the double doors on one side of the gym. Assortments of balls, weights, rackets, bats, and other random sports items can be found in the many wheeled clearance bins, and larger items such as treadmills and cycling machines are lined up along the back wall. Aoba Shibumenosaki sports jerseys of various colors and sizes can also be found all over the room, hanging from the walls or on rolling clothing racks. The locker rooms look like typical high school locker rooms, each with their own shower area.
