Canon Updates

Canon Updates
If you'd like to have your character updated to a more recent point in their canon story, you may fill out the form below. Please note that while you are free to advance your character in their canon as often as you'd like, you cannot revert them back to an earlier canon point. If you'd like to play from an earlier canon point, you must drop the current character and reapply as a new version of them.

Canon updates fall under the same wait period rules as appable canons. To update your character to a more recent canon point, the new canon material must be available in English for at least one month.

You may also use the form below if new canon material reveals abilities or traits for your character that they would've already had. If a retcon would be spoilers for the new canon material, we may ask that you downplay or avoid using any new details until the one month wait period has passed. If a retcon causes drastic changes, such as a character turning out to be a clone or a villain all along, please contact us directly so we can help sort things out.

Canon updates must be approved by the mods before being used in the game. After your update request has been approved, you may have your character return to their world at any time to complete the update. For information on how this will be handled IC, please see the State of the World page.

Player Name: Jade
Character: Ren Amamiya
Canon: Persona 5
New Canon Point: Good Ending - Endgame, train back home.

New Abilities: The only new abilities that Ren would acquire would be his other Personas - Arsène and Raoul. While Satanael is an update from Arsène and Raoul is a fusion between Arsène and Satanael, all Personas can be recovered in the Velvet Room regardless if they've been used before for fusions. I'd like to keep Satanael in his Persona row as well.

Arsène is Ren's original Persona, the one he awakened to first. Here is a list of the skills he brings:
Eigaon - Deals Heavy Curse damage to a single target at the cost of 12 SP.
Brave Blade - Deals Colossal Physical damage to a single target at the cost of 24% of his current HP.

Arsène's element is Curse, and he resists attacks from that same category. He is weak against Ice and Bless.

Raoul is a fusion between Arsène and Satanael and is his third-tier Persona, known as another alias of Arsène Lupin. Both he and Arsène share the Fool Arcana, as it is Joker's own, but unlike Arsène, Raoul inherits Almighty as his element. He can block Curse and is weak against Bless. Here is the list of his skills:

Phantom Show - Phantom Show costs 4 SP and inflicts Sleep to all targets with high odds of landing.
Eigaon - As listed above.
Ali Dance - This skill is passive and allows for half hit rate of all attacks inflicted on Raoul's user.
Maeigaon - Maeigaon costs 22SP and deals Heavy Curse to all foes.
Heat Riser - This skill exists within Satanael as well, increasing Attack/Defense/Agility of a single ally for three turns.
Curse Amp - Curse Amp strengthens Curse attacks by 50% automatically.
Concentrate - Concentrate allows the user's next magical attack damage to increase by x2.5.
Life Aid - Life Aid is a passive skill that automatically heals the user by 8% of their total HP.

Notable Changes: After the final boss, reality goes back to what it was. According to Sojiro, Ren has been locked up since his current canon point and it is only with the efforts of the Phantom Thieves and confidants that he gets out or even has a decent time in juvenile detention. At the end of the game, Ren can be seen taking off his glasses while his reflection of the train window removes the mask. It symbolizes Ren growing into himself. He will become more confident in his relationships, a bit more trusting of the fact that he can be believed in after all, since everyone he knows pulled through for him to get him out. He will cherish his friendships with the Phantom Thieves even more, due to the fact he was about to leave them and return home and after the nightmare they've been through together. He will finally understand the big picture and feel more integrated with their story - as he is the earliest canon point of the cast.

Ren will continue to pursue what he thinks it's right over what's best, and perhaps now even more so.

Player Name: Jade
Character: Goro Akechi
Canon: Persona 5 Royal
New Canon Point: Good ending, endgame (March 20)

New Abilities: Hereward (Persona)

Hereward is the fusion of Akechi's previous two Personas, Robin Hood and Loki. He is awakened February 2nd from the Persona 5 protagonist's friendship and rivalry with Akechi, as well as the protagonist's unwillingness to forget their promise for a rematch in the future. Hereward's news skills are:

Rebellion Blade (99 SP) Colossal Almighty (ignores resistances) damage to 1 foe. Highly effective if foe is downed.

Ingenious Spirit: a trait which may decrease the SP cost of allies' support/Almighty skills by half.

He's weak to Bless damage, resists Psychic damage, and blocks Curse damage; he shares Loki's other attacks as listed in Akechi's initial application.

Notable Changes: None of note. He'd be slightly more trusting of the Phantom Thieves' strength and willpower due to witnessing them take down the final boss, but no more so than his current development in Tabula Rasa itself has already allowed.

Player Name: Aiko
Character: Cole
Canon: Dragon Age: Inquisition
New Canon Point: After the quests Here Lies the Abyss/Wicked Eyes & Wicked Hearts + in the midst of Subjected to His Will, after the amulet fails to work but before they leave to find out why.

New Abilities: Nothing that really needs to be specified, just general better stats and stealth/rogue skills like you'd expect from leveling up in an RPG.

Notable Changes: Nothing major here either, more on the subtle end as Cole has had more time to grow his relationships with the other Inquisition members, got to have another traumatic moment or two, and had a few more broader experiences with People in general. He's also now much more concerned about preventing the possibility of being bound by a blood mage/otherwise forced to go against his nature and hurt people and won't be super happy that he's getting pulled away in the middle of figuring out how to do that.

Player Name: Latroma
Character: Parsee Mizuhashi
Canon: Touhou Project
New Canon Point: Post Urban Legend in Limbo

New Abilities: N/A
Notable Changes:
-The first thing I wish to note is that, while I take Parsee from Post-Game in the one game she appears in, she is like most characters in Touhou roughly aware of events in subsequent games (and a background character in at least two). However, Urban Legend occurs after her last background appearance in the games.

So this is less of a "Canon Update" to remember things which specifically happen to her (she probably just goes about her day to day business of being jealous of everyone and guarding a bridge nobody crosses while hearing everyone's gossip), an more of an awareness of "events happening around her."

Urban Legend in Limbo entails an event where urban legends from modern Japan are coming to life in the valley of Gensokyo and are treated as magical playthings by the lead characters. Its events do occur within "Old Hell," where Parsee resides (The Palace of Earth Spirits specifically, where she is seen in the background in the previous game). Sumeriko's magic, which brings elements of modern Japan into Gensokyo, albeit hodge podge and temporarily can help Parsee be a little less "fish out of water" with everything even if she's still kind of backwards.

It gives her an awareness of modern urban legends as well (so when Overgrowth hits, she may have a specific reaction to it, since it's a pretty modern phenomena in Japanese folklore.).

Also, experiencing her old life again for a period before coming back serves along with the newly incorporated 'purification rules' to give her a reason to want to actively stay, and embrace that most of the 'belief' she receives here is positive. Whereas all of the belief she gets in Gensokyo is negative or accepting of her negativity.

There's relatively little change to Parsee's personality, but there's more awareness of the mortal world around her.

OOC: I'm thinking of doing this in the beginning of February, before the February imprints/event.

Player Name: Liz
Character: Ann Takamaki
Canon: Persona 5
New Canon Point: Persona 5: Strikers - end game, as the Phantom Thieves say goodbye for the last time and depart to return to their every day normal lives.

New Abilities: No new abilities honestly, Carmen remains unchanged and so does Ann other than a brand new Showtime move.

Notable Changes: Ann seems far more confident in herself. She's not nearly as flighty or nervous acting, she's more sure of what she's doing and where she's going in life. Her modeling career is starting to take off and she's nearly finished with school [going so far as to brag that she's only flunked ONE final exam], and other than being more confident, she's still the same, happy, short tempered girl she was before. Also, a new outfit! :D
